The Trail Run Challenge - Ready to get a little dirty! Grab those trail shoes and maybe a few bandaids and hit the dirt!
First up in April is the "Art Attack", a 4.5 loop on the Claim Jumper/Secret Sauce trails. These are a couple of the newest running trails in our area. It’s a great single track with a few nice up and downs to keep you on your toes. It’s easily runnable even for the trail neophyte. The trail is a loop with a pretty smooth track and nice view sure to hook you on trail running!
Challenge #2, is the "Ticket to Paradise" that puts you on the Chuckwalla Trail. You’ll climb roughly 400’, up Beck’s Hill to the top of Scout’s Cave junction then return on Paradise Rim for a run of just under 6 miles. This is one of the premier trails in our area with fabulous views of the valley on one side, Pine Mountain on the other.
The final Trail Challenge is our "Life is a Picnic" where you get to drop back to a very short and lovely flat run on the Temple Quarry Trail. The Trail circles the hillside above the old airport and is where the stones used for the foundation of the St George Temple were quarried a hundred and forty year ago. It’s a very scenic 1 mile out and 1 mile back rim run so we thought we'd do this one in the afternoon and evening. We did say this was in June so the sunset is around 9:30 p.m. You can choose any start time between 7:00 - 8:30 pm. Remember, it is June so if you expect it to be a warn one!
At the end of this one you'll want the new, and clean, picnic socks!
