Dixie Cotton Mission Pioneer Parade

We appreciate your interest in the up-coming Dixie Cotton Mission Pioneer Parade which will be held on Saturday, October 15th, 2011 in St. George. The City of St. George is hoping for as many participants as possible to include all ages and family sizes interested in doing so.


If you wish to walk in the parade with other family members that you have contacted, you will need to do the following:

1. E-mail family registration information in full no later than October 1st, 2011. We must have a firm commitment of participation with this registration. We would appreciate no duplications of the "SAME FAMILY" settler registrations.

2. Please have "Founding Family" name banner professionally printed on vinyl or nylon (no hand written paper signs). The sizes and optional printers and estimated costs are listed below. You may use other resources if compliant with size and materials used. Family flags may also be carried. Family name must be in full on banner @ "John L. Walker" family not "Walker family". Plan ahead, printing could take a week to 10 days to be completed by retailers.

3. Dress in pioneer like clothing. NO TEE SHIRTS or BALL CAPS. Children welcome to walk or be pulled in wagons. If you have access to a handcart, that would be wonderful and NO MORTORIZED VEHICLES WILL BE PERMITTED. Also no floats, clowns, balloons, police banners, firecrackers or business advertising will be allowed.

4. Be at your assigned number position written on the street which will be assigned to you by e-mail when we receive your registration information. That location will be on 300 West and Tabernacle Street at 10:00 am PROMPTLY Saturday morning with all participating members present. You will be given a number to attach to your sign at that time.

5. OPTIONAL: Fill out in 50 words or LESS a brief history or information of family settler which will be read by announcer as you pass by on parade route.

6. Be prepared to walk the 12 block route from 300 West on Tabernacle Street to 400 East then south to Vernon Worthen Park which is the finish of the parade and the location for the Dixie Legacy Celebration.

7. E-mail below requested information back no later than October 1st, 2011. Any information that is not complete and in our hands by that date will not be assigned a number and will not be announced, but may join along the route at a place of choice, just not at the beginning.

St. George Wagon Company Sponsorships Available

150th St. George Wagon Company sponsorships are a great way to become involved and support this historical event. Sponsors will be recognized on the city website, in a commemorative book, on signage at campsites and mentions on the radio. Sponsorships include in-kind and cash contributions. Below is a list of sponsorship categories:

In-Kind Contributions

  • Breakfast food items (Eggs, potatoes, bacon, napkins, etc…)
  • Dinner food Items (Hamburger, hot dogs, paper plates, etc…)
  • Animal feed
  • Potable water truck(s)
  • Semi-truck and trailer/ refrigeration trailer
  • Porta-Potties at campsites and on trailers during expedition
  • Veterinarians
  • Garbage cans/ dumpsters

Cash Contributions

  • $2,500 + Wagon Master Level Sponsorship
  • $1000 - $2,499 Wrangler Level Sponsorship
  • $500 - $999 Point Rider Level Sponsorship
