The St. George Fire Department Technical Rescue Team is a group of firefighters who are certified in specialized skills and the use of tools that are not typically used for most firefighting and emergency medical services. Technical rescue calls occur at a lower frequency than everyday calls, but carry a greater risk to rescuers and patients. For this reason, crew members train every month on specialized skills and real-life training scenarios.
All staff members of St. George Fire Department are trained at an operations level for technical rescue, with some certified as technicians in rope rescue, confined space rescue, trench rescue, heavy machinery extrication, and structural collapse.
St. George's technical rescue operations are coordinated by Captain Justin Snyder.
