Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and provides federal funding to perform a variety of community development and housing activities in all states, qualifying counties, and in all “entitled” cities (those with a population of at least 50,000 people). The amount of money granted to a city is determined on an annual basis by a HUD formula.

Matrix-Code-Definitions Matrix codes are used to indicate—but do not establish—activity eligibility. An activity must be eligible in accordance with the regulations at 24 CFR 570.201 – 570.207.  Grantees need to refer to the regulations to determine an activity’s eligibility; the codes defined below are used in IDIS On-Line chiefly to categorize activities for reporting purposes. Note that the matrix code must also correlate with a national objective.
