Douglas Wellman was born in Minneapolis and attended the University of Minnesota where he studied communications. He was a television director at two stations in the Twin Cities before moving to Los Angeles, where he production managed situation comedies before returning to producing and directing. For the next 37 years he worked on series and specials for Fox, A&E, CBS, NBC, Lifetime and Showtime. Concurrently, he was the assistant dean of the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts for ten years. Since retiring from USC he has written four nonfiction books which have been published, has one completed awaiting publication, and is researching one more. He has a degree in theology and works part-time as a board certified chaplain at St. George Regional Medical Center.
