The Junior Class (5-14 year olds) presents an easy and fun introduction in Polynesian dance. Learn basic Tahitian steps, terminology, rhythm and timing. Children learn coordination practiced and developed through creative movement and music. In a supportive environment, the instructor uses games and songs to encourage teamwork, teach basic steps, balance and showmanship.
The class will meet on Saturdays at the St George Recreation Center at 11:15 AM - 12:00 PM.
The senior class (ages 15+) will give you the tools you need to strengthen stamina and endurance. Students will learn basic techniques from the island of Tahiti. Improve timing and stage presence. Learn fun routines to traditional island music.
The class will meet on Saturdays at the St George Recreation Center at 12:15pm-1pm
Polynesian culture loves our tupunas (elders) and we are encouraged to show them the utmost respect and honor. Our Golden Years class (Adults 50+) will be a low impact class focused on Tahitian Aparimas (songs accompanied by guitar) and hulas. Students will have the option to stand and perform basic steps or sit if they have difficulty.
The class will meet on Saturdays at the St George Recreation Center at 10:15 AM - 11:00 AM.
Class attire will be a black shirt and sarong for the females and a black shirt and black shorts for the males for all classes.
The Free and Reduced price lunch discounts will apply for kids 5-18. Patron must present documentation from the Washington School District. Please make a copy and attach to their registration waiver. The discount will be under OYH (Outdoor Youth Half Priced Lunch) and OYL (Outdoor Youth Free Lunch).
Classes are $25 per month for 4 Saturdays or $7 per session
