In ARTIE's Discovery Center, located inside the museum, for each exhibit, we feature multi-disciplinary, hands-on learning activities that expand upon the concepts featured in the art and increase the child's awareness and thought processes of that art.
Researchers tell us that getting an early start in the arts can make a real difference in the lives of children. The benefits of early arts education extend way beyond providing a creative outlet. Involvement in the creative arts can help develop imagination, cognitive skills, problem solving, fine motor skills, social skills, and a host of other benefits. Art education can play a major role in a child's academic and social development.
Spend some quality time with your children or grandchildren at the St. George Art Museum by visiting the exhibits and talking about them with the kids. Then create your own exhibit related artworks together in the Family Discovery Center.
