City of St. George
Water Quality Report March 18 2010

Commitment To Our Customers
Since the early 1900's, St. George City's Water Department has been dedicated to producing safe drinking water for all its customers. The City currently owns and operates 16 wells (8 located below Gunlock Reservoir, 5 in Snow Canyon, 1 north of the Industrial Park and 2 north of Washington City), one 20 million gallons a day surface water treatment plant located at Quail Lake, and numerous springs located on the south and west sides of Pine Valley Mountain.

On-going Quality
To ensure the ongoing quality of water, city personnel routinely monitors for constituents in your drinking water in accordance with State and Federal laws. During 2002, over 2500 test were taken on chemical, physical and microbiological properties of the city's water. Testing is done at all stages, from the water source all the way to your tap.
OverView
EPA prescribes limits on the amount of each constituent allowed in public water systems. The presence of these constituents does not necessarily pose a health risk. All drinking water, including bottled drinking water may be reasonably expected to contain at least small mounts of constituents. More information about constituents and health effects can be obtained by calling the Environmental Protection Agency's Safe Drinking Water Hotline (800) 436-4791.

Take Note
Some people may be more vulnerable to constituents in drinking water than the population. Immuno-compromised persons such as persons with cancer undergoing chemotherapy, persons who have undergone organ transplants, people with HIV/Aids or other immune system disorders, some elderly, and infants can be particularly at risk. These people should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers.

Source Protection
St. George City has completed source protection plans for their underground drinking water sources such as wells and springs. Most of these sources are in relatively remote parts of the country and have a low susceptibility to contamination. A few wells located closer to residential areas may be more susceptible to contamination from houses and roads. Please contact us at (435) 879-2361 if you would like to review our source protection plan or if you have questions about it.
