- Has it been discussed or considered to make Plantation Dr/ Dixie Down a larger capacity road? It would alleviate the traffic congestion on bluff Street. Especially if the Bluff Street Interstate modification is moved up several years.
Response
Last year the city completed an update to its Traffic and Transportation Master Plan. That planning effort included extensive computer traffic modeling. This process identified the routes people would travel to all destinations throughout the region. The traffic volume on each route was then used to establish the number of lanes needed on each street. The model projected a need to build Plantation Drive, Dixie Downs Road and Dixie Drive as five-lane roads. The city is moving ahead to implement those improvements. The first priority is to widen the bridge near Mathis Park. Funding for design of the bridge work is in next year's budget proposal. UDOT is also working on a plan to widen Bluff Street.
