GUIDELINES FOR BRIGHAM YOUNG
It is your responsibility to find a replacement if you are unable to fulfill your assignment, also to notify Wayne Wright at 674-4378 of your replacement. If you are unable to reach Wayne, leave word with Angie Mason at the St. George Art Museum, 634-5942, ext. 12. The Day Captains must know of any changes before the day of the tour.
Your costume consisting of a hat, vest and coat are found on the front hall rack of the Brigham Young Home.
Brigham Young, please dont come to the street to meet the bus. The tour guide will explain that this is the end of the tour and point out that the group will walk back to their cars. The tour guide will then bring the group in and introduce them to you. She/he then leaves the tour.
The script contains all the information that you need to cover in your presentation. The time allotted of 12 minutes prohibits the use of additional stories.
Stay in character. Speak in first person as the historical person and begin with the time period indicated in your script. Remember, we are telling ST. GEORGE HISTORY, not crossing the plains.
Let your acting skills shine and make your character come ALIVE — have fun. Involve the people, especially children
You will not usually have a tour guide to signal you when you have two minutes remaining, so please be alert and stay within your allotted time. We don’t want tour groups to cancel other scheduled events for the day or miss lunch. Honor your time commitment and honor the tour guides notification of time.
Thank YOU for sharing your time and talents! This is a fun way to share our beautiful city and its history.
At the conclusion of your presentation, thank the guests for touring with Historic Saint George Live. Direct them back to the Old Opera House. Invite those who would like to have a tour of your home to stay and the missionaries will be glad to do that.
* Presentations for the school district need to focus on Utah history, not religion.
