St. George Leisure Services Department Receives State Awards
St George, Utah—The St. George Leisure Services Department has been honored for its commitment to quality programming, design and service to the community for leisure and recreational opportunities. The Utah Recreation and Parks Association held its annual conference in St. George at the Dixie Center this week and awarded the St. George Leisure Services Department an award for excellence for their commitment in the Parks and Recreation field.
The Department was awarded the “Outstanding Program of the Year” for its youth program, “Curiosity Club.” The program, held at the Tonaquint Nature Center, has engaged children, ages 3-5 years old, for over a year. Curiosity Club provides an interactive and fun learning setting for little ones. The main goal of the program is to encourage and expand a child’s desire and need to learn new things and ask questions.
The program will expanded in April 2009 by offering a morning along with an afternoon session. Registration is now open for the new session starting Tuesday, April 14 at 10:30 am. For more information visit www.sgcityrec.org or call the St. George Recreation Center at 627-4560.
Congratulations to the St. George Leisure Services Department for its hard work by offering quality and enriching programs to southern Utah residents.
