Tonaquint Park is an oasis of nature in the heart of St. George. The ripple of the Santa Clara river, the rustle of cattails and the quick scamper of lizards are just some of the sounds at the Tonaquint Nature Center. Located at 1851 South Dixie Drive, just west of Southgate Golf Course, Tonaquint Nature Center offers outdoor educational programs for all ages.

The City of St. George Hosts Service Project at Tonaquint

Community pride is a treasured component of a beautiful city and on Friday, May 17 from 5:00-7:00PM, community members can show their pride at the service project being held at the Tonaquint Nature Center. The City of St. George and TreeUtah foundation are partnering in order to improve the area surrounding the Center. TreeUtah’s mission is to improve Utah’s quality of life for present and future generations by enhancing the environment through tree planting, stewardship and education. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to tree planting and education.

Throughout the evening, volunteers will be busy planting trees and shrubs, cleaning up litter in the park and along the trail system. So grab your work gloves and help plant new trees in order to improve the aesthetics at this unique park in St. George. Along with the stewardship project, there will also be information on all the summer youth programs and free crafts for kids to create.

For more information about the evening’s planned activities you may call the St. George Recreation Division at 627-4560. The Tonaquint Nature Center is located at 1851 South Dixie Drive in St. George.
