On today’s date (Oct 31, 2008) at approximately 4:00 am the 911 dispatch center received a cell phone call from a passenger on a Greyhound bus. The bus was traveling North bound on I-15 from Nevada and was scheduled to exit I-15 at Exit 4 in St. George. The adult male (Dustin Holloway identified by Ohio driver license) indicated to dispatchers that he heard other passengers on the bus discussing plans to hi-jack the bus. He also reported seeing firearms. The bus was traveling from Los Angeles in route to Denver with 52 passengers on board.
When the bus made the scheduled stop at the Flying J truck stop officers were in the area observing the bus and all occupants. Officers did not see any signs of a bus hi-jacking. Dustin Holloway exited the bus and made contact with one of the initial officers on scene. He pointed out several of the occupants of the bus and indicated that these persons were involved in a plot to hi-jack the bus.
The Officers on scene systematically removed all persons from the bus and conducted an investigation. After interviewing all involved the initial information given by Dustin Holloway could not be confirmed. The passengers and bus driver had no information to indicate any crime was about to be committed.
The St. George Police Department SWAT team then cleared and searched the bus and found no weapons or evidence of any planned crime(s).
The reporting person Dustin Holloway (22 yr old male from Marion Ohio) was then arrested and booked at the Washington County Jail for the below charges;
1- Making a false alarm.
2- Possession of a controlled substance on a bus.
3- Possession of suspected Marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
4- Public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
