We've had hundreds of thefts from vehicles this year and this number increases during the holidays. To prevent this, TAKE AWAY THE OPPORTUNITY!! Lock your car whenever it's unattended, even in your garage. Several of these thefts were from closed garages! Keep personal items OUT OF VIEW.
With the holiday shopping upon us, thieves are watching as we come out of a store with our bags. Rather than go back in, MOVE THE CAR TO A NEW LOCATION. The thief watching may think you are leaving and will stop watching your car thinking that you are leaving the area and look for another victim. Make sure you put the bags in the trunk, making it harder for a thief to get.
We will have bicycle officers patrolling the parking lots through the month of December in an effort to reduce thetse types of thefts.
If you see anyone or any vehicle that appears suspicious, call the St. George Police at 634-5000.
