Many crimes are cased prior to the crime. This looks suspicious. You may see something suspicious that could lead to a vehicle burglary, a prowler, a crime. What to do? Call dispatch at 634-5000 for non-emergency items such as these. An accident, an assault or other in-progress calls should be 911 calls.
Don't try to apprehend anyone. Keep the suspect in sight, but stay out of sight of the suspect and let dispatch know your location. Don't get out of your car if you are in one. The officer will want to contact you for a statement. Let us know the direction of travel if the suspect leaves. Don't follow. Remain at the scene until dispatch tells you that you can leave. We need witnesses. Be safe!
