School Resource Officer Program

Several years ago, representatives from the Washington County School District, the St. George Police Department and the City of St. George discussed the possibility of having school resource officers in the high schools. The plan was implemented and became so effective that it was expanded to include the middle schools as well. School Resource Officers (SRO's) are able to develop relationships with the teachers, the administration and the students to such an extent that they are able to address situations before they become problems. Many crimes have been solved and prevented as a result of this very effective program, providing an unsurpassed level of safety for our children as they attend school.
