Q. What’s the difference between a facility reservation permit and a special event permit?
A. A Facility Reservation Permit is for groups of 25 or more who want to use a park/trail or to reserve a section of a park such as a pavilion for a set day and time. A Special Event Permit is for a one time event such as a sport tournament, fun run, or art show.
Q. How many picnic tables can we use and will the city bring more tables for us?
A. Each park has a limited number of picnic tables. If more our needed for your gathering/event, you must supply your own tables and chairs. Please be considerate of other park users and do not use more tables than you need.
Q. Can we bring rides in to the park?
A. Bounce houses, climbing walls, dunk tanks, water slides, and other structures must be approved using the permit process.
Q. We are a non-profit organization, so can our use fee be waived?
A. Yes. City Council has pre-approved fee waivers most non-profit organizations.
Q. Can we put up a tent(s)?
A. Yes, with some limitations. The location of the tent(s) must be approved using the permit process and Parks staff may need to be on-site during the installation.
Q. Can we put up a volleyball net?
A. Yes, as long as it is self supporting. You may not tie the net to a tree or dig holes for poles.
Q. Can we reserve the volleyball courts, baseball fields, and tennis courts?
A. Yes. Sand volleyball courts can be reserved for a small fee through the Park Maintenance Division. The use of baseball fields and tennis courts is scheduled through the Recreation Division.
Q. Can we have a stereo or boombox for music at our function?
A. Yes, but you must respect other park users and keep the volume reasonable. Bands, amplified speakers, and other loud devices must be approved in the permitting process.
Q. Can we have a fire in the park?
A. Fires are allowed only in designated fire pits and barbeque grills. No open fires are allowed.
Q. Is there electricity and water available for our function?
A. Drinking water is provided, but water for washing, games, etc. is not available. Electrical outlets are provided at most pavilions.
Q. Can we use a park or trail after dark?
A. Parks close at dark, except for some lighted sport courts (courts are signed with allowed hours of use). Park use after dark may be allowed through the permitting process. Trails are open after dark, but bicycles must use lights as required by law.
