Porter Rockwell Returns, by Larry Anderson
Wednesday Jan 11th and Friday Jan 13th at 2pm then Monday Jan 16th at 7pm Opera House
The Salt Lake Repertory Theater called the play, "Spellbinding." The Deseret News called it, "Jovial, mysterious." Dr. Lawrence Anderson researched the life of Porter Rockwell during graduate studies in LDS History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University. He wrote and began performing "Porter Rockwell Returns" 25 years ago during a teaching assignment at Dixie College and went on to perform the play around the West as many as three times per week for several years. The play has been evaluated for accuracy by LDS and Western American historians. Several of his props are original to the 19th century. The costume and guns are authentic in every detail. And yes the hair is real...just not his. Across the nation, songs were sung of the modern Sampson who could not be killed. Note: Due to gunfire, persons under 12 are not admitted. Due to popularity, this program will require a free general seating ticket which can be picked up at the St. George Art Museum ahead of time. Any seats not used by ten minutes prior to a show, will be given to door traffic.
