In 1980, under the direction of Mayor James G. Larkin, the St. George City Council and City Manager Gary S. Esplin, the St. George City Office Building was officially dedicated and became the headquarters for every city department with the exception of the fire department. Local architect, Leslie A. Stoker designed the building and Broderick & Howell was the general contractor throughout its construction.
Since that time, the city office building has undergone several remodels to adapt to the needs of a growing community. During the 1990’s to early 2000’s many city departments and divisions moved into satellite offices as their operations and employee base expanded. In 2004, under the direction of Mayor Daniel D. McArthur and the city council, the city office building landscape was modified to demonstrate the importance of wise water use while preserving aesthetic beauty.
Today the St. George City Office Building located at 175 East 200 North is home to the Finance Department, Legal Department, Public Works Department Administration and Engineering, Community Development Department, Development Services Department, general government administration including the City manager’s Office and the Mayor’s Office.
All Hillside Review Board, ACE Court hearings, Planning Commission and City Council meetings are held at the City Office Building.
