Don’t Waste Dixie Week Kick-off
Join the County Commission and local elected officials to kick-off Don’t Waste Dixie Week. 5:00 pm at Pioneer Park in St. George (250 East Red Hills Parkway). Balloons for the kids plus refreshments! For information call (435) 627-4000.
Tuesday, September 25
Local Government Employees Clean-up
Local government employees will be volunteering their time to clean-up sections of roadways and parks in their communities. Tuesday evening.
Wednesday, September 26
Don’t Waste Dixie School Day
Members of the Don’t Waste Dixie committee and the Southern Utah Recycling Coalition will be educating students in Washington County about the importance of recycling and keeping communities litter-free! For more information call Blue Sky Services at 673-1400.
Thursday, September 27
Don’t Waste Dixie goes Downtown on Thursday Night
Visit the Don’t Waste Dixie booth at the weekly Downtown Thursday Night event on Main Street in St. George. Bring your family and friends to a special presentation on the main stage at 8:00 pm. For information on Downtown Thursday Nights call 635-5720.
Friday, September 28
Electronic Waste Day
Electronic waste can be very hazardous to the environment if it is not disposed of properly. On this day residents are invited to drop-off old computers, televisions, monitors and other electronic devices free of charge at the Dixie Center (Convention Center Drive) on Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Only electronic equipment will be accepted (This does not include refrigerators, washers/dryers and other large appliances). This event is made possible by the Washington County Solid Waste District and 1-800-GOT-JUNK.
Saturday, September 29
Don’t Waste Dixie Community Clean-up Day
Take a look around your neighborhood, local park, trail, school, or road frontages in your area. Is there any need for trash pick-up or an opportunity for service? Call your local government to organize a volunteer group clean-up project in your community on this day. Always remember to incorporate recycling in your clean-up efforts!
