Suzanne B. Allen was elected to the City Council in November 1997 and re-elected in 2001. She is Council liaison to the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) where she serves as the chair, the Community Development Department, Planning Commission, and the Arts Commission.

Suzanne was a Planning Commissioner at the time of her election to the City Council, where she still serves today. She is the past chair of Healthy Dixie Community Board. Suzanne also sits on the Boards of the Foundation for Dixie Regional Medical Center, Leadership Dixie, Pioneer Center for the Arts, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Dixie Care and Share. She was recently elected as the Representative for Southern Utah with the Utah League of Cities and Towns, and is a member of the Board of Directors.

She feels that planning for our city's future is the most important focus. It is important to keep up with and manage our steady growth, addressing the growing traffic concerns, maintaining and keeping the highest level of service in our infrastructure, the development of new water sources and conservation of the existing resources, commercial & industrial development that brings higher paying jobs, and a healthy and thriving downtown. We must continue moving ahead with the planning stages of the new airport.

Suzanne was raised in Idaho Falls and moved to Utah in 1968, where she graduated from Orem High. She has lived in St. George since 1986. She attended both Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. Suzanne has owned and operated her own business before moving to St. George, and she and her husband, Paul, are the owners of Allen Electric. They are the parents of six, and the grandparents of eleven.

Council Member Allen's current term expires December 31, 2009.
