Daniel D. McArthur was elected Mayor of St. George on November 2, 1993 and took office January 3, 1994. He served ten years on the St. George City Council, from 1984 to 1994. He is a native of St. George and is proud to be named after and descended from one of the original pioneers called by Brigham Young to settle St. George, his great-grandfather, Daniel D. McArthur.

Mayor McArthur is a past President of the Utah League of Cities and towns, a member and past president of the St. George Rotary Club, a member of the Washington County Water Conservancy District Board, a member of the Board of Directors of the Washington County Solid Waste District, a member of the Washington County Economic Development Executive Committee, and a member of the WCIA Board (Dixie Center & Regional Park).

As a member of the St. George City Council he was active in various organizations dedicated to maintaining St. George's quality of life, and promoting re-utilization and support of the downtown area. Dan serves as chairman of the St. George Downtown Redevelopment District.

Mayor McArthur believes in an open door policy and in informing the residents of St. George. He conducts the Mayor's Forum on the Community Education channel addressing important issues about St. George. He also participates with five local radio stations with call in shows & interviews on a weekly basis.

Dan's service to the people of St. George is backed by a wealth of experience. He served as a Scout master and Explorer leader for many years. He has served as Bishop, High Councilman & many other leadership positions in the LDS Church, and is now serving as a Primary Teacher.

Dan graduated from St. George Elementary schools, Dixie High School, Dixie College and earned his Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Technology from Brigham Young University in 1973. He is president and chief executive officer of McArthur Welding, Inc. and vice president of Interstate Steel and Supply, Inc.

Dan and his wife, Bunny, have six children and eight grandchildren.

Mayor McArthur's current term expires in 2013.
