VolunteerST. GEORGE ART MUSEUM IS RECRUITING NEW VOLUNTEERS & DOCENTS Do you have a love of art? Have you ever thought about becoming a docent or a front desk volunteer at the St. George Art Museum? Now is the time. Wonderful exhibits are always on view and new exhibits arrive 3 to 4 times per year.
Beginning as students themselves, docents receive a basic training about the visual arts and each new exhibit, often meeting with the artists. They then step into the role of educator, communicating that information primarily to 4th and 5th grade school children. "Docents and volunteers need to be dependable, willing to do some studying, fun-loving, and like children and people", said Mary Williams, a former member of the St. George Art Museum Advisory Board and the driving force behind our docent program. "It doesn't hurt to be a bit of an actor." For more information on becoming a Museum docent or front desk volunteer, call the St. George Art Museum at 627-4525.
